I discovered Alabama only lately and much to my contentment. Having played mainly the latest releases I see that some "oldies" are far from being outdated. It seems Alawar have a knack for developing games that leave you wanting for more. And that's a good thing. But not only that, they know how to blend intelligent HO finding with good, logical puzzles while keeping the overall difficulty at a sensible yet challenging level. The storyline is interesting, solid and the animations effective. I enjoyed every minute of that game, in particular the Roman Numerals Puzzle, the Bulbs and Wires, and the "Latin Phrases" which is far from easy for those who have never learned a bit of Latin but is so innovative and educative that similar puzzles should be included more often in adventure games. It is true I could have done with a couple of extra chapters since the game is a bit short as is. But oftentimes quality is killed by quantity and boredom takes over. So, why take the risk ? As Alabama does have good replay value I personally do no regard its shortness as a major issue.
