Eschalon: Book I is one of those games that you love from the beginning, at least that was my experience upon playing this wonderful RPG. However, it does not follow the same exact rules as any game in this genre, (it is loosely based off of the D&D stratagem, but it certainly brings back memories for Ultima, Fallout, and Baldur's Gate, and other similarly minded RPG fans. Book I's graphics are not sub-par, yet not totally perfect either, but they at least don't bring back the sting of the early to mid 90's, which I thought was good. Eschalon fans remember that graphics don't always make the game!...Also, Eschalon's actual gameplay, though overwhelming at times, is what won the award for me. The amazing inspired modern graphics, coupled with extremely good gameplay, and excellent sounds makes it justified for me so much that I just can't wait for the sequel! Hail Eschalon and the land of Thaermore!
